5 Most Important Stages in the Content Marketing Process

To most marketing pros, content marketing is their number one tool.

Even so, only 35% of companies can say for sure that their content marketing is very successful.

This is the thing; if you want your business to succeed in this day and age, it’s all about getting noticed.

The best way to do so is through QUALITY content creation.

Today, we’re looking at the five most important stages of any effective content strategy.

Let’s jump right in!

Stage 1: Keyword Research

The first stage consists of finding out what people are searching for online.

  • What kind of information could be useful to them right now?
  • Is there a demand for certain topics or subjects?

For example, if you run an online gym, your content could focus on health and fitness advice.

Once you’ve decided on the main topic of your content piece, it’s time to do some research!

You can look at Google Autocomplete for suggestions. Simply type in a subject related to your topic (as shown in the photo)

You can also search for related phrases with tools like Ubersuggest.

Make sure any terms you choose are relevant and not too competitive – it’ll make it much easier to rank high in search engines later on.

Stage 2: Brainstorming & Planning Content

Think about the following:

  • Who am I writing for (your target audience)?
  • Do they have any pain points I can help them solve?
  • What is my hook?
  • How can I make my title stand out?

To develop a great title, go back over all the research you did earlier in Stage 1.

What are people searching for? How can you include it in a catchy headline that will capture their attention?

This is where good copywriting skills come into play – after all, these titles are going to be what convinces readers they’re looking at the right results!

Stage 3: Content Creation

Now it’s time to get down to writing the actual. You can use a tool like Grammarly to correct any mistakes you missed.

It’s also essential to come up with a strong introduction. It needs to hook the reader and create anticipation for what’s to come!

Another vital focus is striking the right balance between too little and too much information!

Your early articles should cover topics that are simply relevant to your target audience – this means less theory and more practical knowledge.

The goal is not to scare away beginners with paragraphs upon paragraphs of text or overwhelm experts who have heard everything there already.

Stage 4: Publishing & Promotion

It’s time to make sure people see your content!

Before hitting “Publish”, make sure everything looks good. Spell-check, double-check all images and links, and rephrase any plagiarized sentences.

For promotion, search engines consider social media engagement a significant factor.

This is because more and more consumers are migrating to social media from the traditional advertising methods. Here are some interesting stats:

Stage 5: Analytics

How do you measure success?

Well, the number of visitors is one of the parameters. If the previous stages were well executed, these numbers should be pretty high.

Software like HubSpot comes in stages 4 and 5 to help create market leads, convert visitors and run analytics.

Remember, you can constantly improve your content from time to time.
